Today, October 5th 2022, the Spanish Geological and Mining Institute (IGME) hosted a meeting between the centre’s researchers and leading companies interested in learning about the scientific activity generated there. Fundación General CSIC (FGCSIC), with the collaboration of CEIM Confederación Empresarial de Madrid-CEOE, the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) and the IGME itself, organised this meeting with the aim of fostering future collaborations between the productive sector and the science developed around the ecological transition, specifically in the field of Critical Minerals, Sustainable Development, Global Change and Geoenergy.
The institutional part of the conference was addressed by Ana María Alonso Zarza (Director of IGME), Marina Villegas (CSIC’s Institutional Delegate in Madrid) and Jorge Cabero Zumalacárregui (Director of Innovation at FGCSIC), who highlighted the convergence of interests of all those attending in the field of innovation. For their part, Javier Maira (Head of Commercial Strategy and Internationalisation at CSIC) and Vicente Parras (Deputy Managing Director of Technological Innovation at the Madrid Regional Government) provided valuable information on the legal framework within which possible contracts and collaborative projects are to be developed.
The meeting continued with an exclusive visit to the facilities of the Geological and Mining Institute and its museum, and ended with a networking session in which more than 70 B2B meetings were held between representatives of leading companies in the sector of the ecological transition and scientists working at IGME.
