On Friday 30 November the Council of Ministers approved the awarding of the Grand Cross of the Civil Order of Alfonso X the Wise to César Nombela, currently Delegate Trustee of the Fundación General CSIC.
With this award, the government is paying tribute to César Nombela’s outstanding career as professor of microbiology at the Madrid Complutense University, and as the creator of the DNA Automated Sequencing Centre, as well as his work presiding the CSIC, the National Council of Pharmaceutical Specialities, and the European Federation of Microbiology Societies, among others.
The Grand Cross of the Civil Order of Alfonso X the Wise is an exclusive award granted in recognition of the merit of individuals of any nationality who have made an exceptional contribution to the advancement of education, science, culture, teaching or research.
